Janna works primarily with adult individuals. She provides both in-person sessions and virtual sessions.
Janna’s practice is primarily oriented around what are known as experiential therapies. This means Janna works hard to not simply talk about what’s bothering you, but to direct you into healing experiences with parts that keep pain stuck. These experiences build skills and inner resources so that you feel better equipped to attend to pain in daily life rather than suppressing it. Time and time again, Janna has seen the healing power of gently facilitating encounters with pain. As the adage goes, we have to feel it to heal it. Through safely encountering pain stuck inside, your nervous system learns that pain can be tolerated, and therefore feels more equipped to attend to it rather than pushing it away, which tends to keep it stuck.
Janna uses an assortment of evidence-based approaches in her practice. These include Emotionally Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and somatic approaches.
